The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority prides itself on numerous forms of national, regional, and local recognition. The recognitions cross all of the Port Authority's core missions--management, development, and leadership.

10-Year Service Awards
Port Authority Staff
June, August 2008

Financial Officer Dana Logan, Operations Coordinator Bill Wright, and Project Manager John Vermaaten were recognized for 10 years of service with the Port Authority during Board meetings in June and August. All began service with the Port Authority in 1998. Fully six of the seven Port Authority staff members have achieved the 10-year milestone.

14th Largest Industrial Park in Central Ohio
Columbus Business First
March 2008

Columbus Business First’s 2008 list of the Top 25 industrial parks in Greater Columbus found the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center on the list at 14th. The COATC joined three other industrial parks in Licking County, validating that the County is indeed the most prolific suburban county for industrial development in the Columbus market.

Mary Jane McDonald
2006 Heath Difference Maker Award
April 2006

Mary Jane McDonald, a director of the Port Authority Board since 1995, was recognized with Park National Bank's first-ever Heath Difference Maker award for her leadership to the community as a member of Reuse Commission and Port Authority Board.

Wally Horton
NAID/ADC 2005 Community Leadership Award
June 2005

Wally Horton, the retired director of the Port Authority, was recognized recently with a national award for his leadership to the community as champion of the Newark Air Force Base privatization. The nomination included a support letter jointly signed by all three county commissioners and the mayors of Newark and Heath.

Boeing AWACS-ESM Expansion

May 2005

As part of a May 2005 report on Ohio titled "Ohio's Wake Up Call," the national trade publication Site Selection magazine highlighted the Boeing AWACS-ESM expansion project remarking, "Boeing represent[s] exactly the kind of high-tech jobs Ohio covets."

Stability, Solid as Bedrock
IEDC Economic Development Journal
October 2005

Saying, "A facility founded for its ground stability proves to serve as the basis for workforce and economic stability," the International Economic Development Council published an article on the COATC. The article was a rewrite of a NAID/ADC article that recognized the efforts at the former Newark Air Force Base as precedent-setting.

President's Award
Licking County Chamber of Commerce
June 2005

At its 2005-2005 annual award recognition ceremony, the Licking County Chamber gave its President's Award to the Port Authority for its continued support to the Chamber. The Port Authority is an active member of the Chamber as well as a member of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

“HNLCPA Shows How Wireless Works.”
TFM Magazine
October 2004

Saying, "While the HNLCPA is a government entity. . .it operates like a private company," national facilities magazine, TFM, recognized the Port Authority in its October 2004 edition.
