These are projects completed on the COATC South Campus prior to 2007.
PROJECTS COMPLETED
Kaiser Drive Extension--COMPLETE
R.F. Scurlock Co. began a project May 2005 to reconstruct and extend Kaiser Drive from State Route 79 to a center point on the COATC South Campus. A November 2, 2005 groundbreaking was a milestone in development of the South Campus as this project will bring the first major infrastructure improvements to this property in over 50 years. This combination roadway upgrade, roadway extension, and storm water project was aided by a $500,000 state grant from the State of Ohio Department of Development under the Third Frontier program. A preliminary plat was approved by the City of Heath in early May 2004. Jobes Henderson & Associates of Newark was the project engineer. The project was substantially complete October 19, 2005.
South Campus Directional Signage--COMPLETE
In early July 2006, Kessler Sign Company installed a new directional sign along Kaiser Drive about 1000' feet inside the COATC St. Rt. 79 entrance. The sign closely mimics signage for the COATC Base Campus. Village Landscaping completed landscaping in and around the signage in late July.
Electric Utility Extensions--COMPLETE
American Electric Power completed electric line extensions for the new South Campus in April 2006. The second stage of a power loop has been contracted for and is expected to be installed by late 2006 or early 2007. The 34.5kV, three-phase power is to be looped from two different circuits with proximity to several different electric substations.
Neighborhood Screening--COMPLETE
The first phase of improvements to provide a buffer between the Fox Run neighborhood and the eastern-most portions of the COATC South Campus is now complete. Village Landscaping was contracted to install evergreen trees staggered along the property border south of the new Kaiser Drive extension. The trees are designed to grow and screen the western, backyard view of the neighbors from future development on the site. The project was designed to meet the City of Heath zoning standards for screening.
South Campus Water Line--COMPLETE
Installation of a water line to connect City water services to Kaiser's aluminum plant located on the COATC South Campus is complete. The connection provides access to the 12 inch line by sites on the South Campus of the COATC and redundancy for existing Base Campus tenants. The Port Authority's only expenses were donation of the right of way to the City of Heath and some legal work. The water line was active during the first week of October 2004.
