The COATC Campus is home to 49 acres of Foreign Trade Zone #138. The FTZ is operated by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority under an agreement with the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority. FTZ's offer benefits to improve competitiveness for companies involved in global trade.

FTZ benefits are that goods received, shipped, stored, and/or manufactured in the zone are exempt from certain taxes and from certain U.S. Customs rules. The benefits include:

Deferral, reduction or elimination of customs duties Manufacturers receive this benefit depending on the form in which the goods leave the zone and their final destination. Companies are also freed from burdensome duty drawback requirements when re-exporting.
