Virtual Center a Reality
On the heels of an announcement of a $200,000 state grant, Boeing revealed plans for a new real-time visualization and 3-D modeling system to be called the Virtual Manufacturing Center. The VMC promises to revolutionize the Boeing-Heath operations at COATC and is viewed as a aerospace product development mecca for hundreds of Boeing suppliers in Ohio and the Midwest.

On The Radar Screen
COATC's Boeing facility was awarded a $20+ million new contract for AWACS radar antennaes. The contract is a byproduct of the State-Local partnership with Boeing that attracted this key workload to Ohio from Texas in 2005. The contract represents a nearly 20% increase in contract revenue for Boeing in Heath.

Ribbon Cut!
On May 23rd, Heath, business, and Port Authority officials joined in a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of $1.6 million in infrastructure improvements to the COATC, including the half-mile James Parkway Extension. The extension project links two of Central Ohio's largest indukstrial parks--the Mid Ohio Industrial Park and the COATC.

COATC Welcomes U.S. Senator Voinovich
U.S. Senator George Voinovich visited with COATC tenants Boeing and Bionetics as part of a tour to update him on the progress of privatization in place of the former Newark Air Force Base workload. Voinovich was Governor when Newark AFB was on the BRAC closure list and was among those who fought to retain the work and employment through privatization.

BAE Systems To Be Sold
A pending sale of BAE Systems, with operations at the COATC, to J.F. Lehman & Co. was announced. The Port Authority pledged its support of a smooth transition.

DC Fly-In
The Port Authority supports its aerospace and defense-related customers by arranging and hosting a one-day fly-in to Washington, DC to meet with many from the Ohio delegation.

Southgate Public-Private Partnership Highlighted
The public-private partnership between Southgate Corporation and the Port Authority is touted. It's this partnership that brought Heath its first major new manufacturing plant in 54 years.

Samuel Manu-Tech Announces Production Work
As construction wraps up on the 151,000 s.f. new manufacturing facility for Samuel Manu-Tech, the company announces relocation of production work from Ontario, Canada. The announcement touts the productivity of the Central Ohio workforce as a chief reason for the relocation.
