November 17, 2006
Day Care Remains at COATC
For over nine years, Southtowne Kids Club has operated an infant-11 years old child day care center at the COATC. Though the building housing the center will be razed in early 2007, the operation will remain. An adjacent, available building was purchased by the operator as the new, permanent home for Southtowne. Day care, as a result, will remain an amenity available for COATC personnel into the future.

Project Milestone Reached
Now at 75% completion, the COATC South Campus improvements are taking final shape. With water and sewer improvements now in place and operational, roadway work is well underway.

Boeing, COATC Celebrate 10 Years
With a mortgage burning ceremony and remarks from a Boeing President about "the strong work ethic in Ohio," a 10-year anniversary was held.

While calling the Boeing-Port Authority effort "Ohio's best public-private partnership," Ohio Lt. Governor Bruce Johnson helped to cut the ribbon on the AWACS-ESM anechoic chamber.

e-Newsletter
On Target, the e-Newsletter for the COATC Base Campus, wraps up its fourth year this month. The newsletter was unveiled in September 2002 as a monthly communication device to keep COATC personnel and friends up to date on what is happening at The Base.

Port Considers Land Holdings Expansion, Grant
The Port Authority filed an application today that included a purchase agreement for 305 acres in Pataskala in Western Licking County. The agreement is part of a proposed $13+ million project that is contingent on a $4.99 million grant from the Ohio Job Ready Sites Program.

$20 Million in Projects!
The COATC campus is seeing over $20 million in construction projects underway this Summer. The work is heralded as an earth moving experience, the likes of which hasn't been seen on this property in 54 years.

Fuel Cell Demo Project Proposed
The Port Authority, for the second straight year, will participate in the Ohio Fuel Cell Symposium. The Port will be an exhibitor proposing the COATC as a location for a fuel cell demonstration project.

COATC Second Stage to Begin
A contract has been let for $1.6 million in capital improvments planned for the COATC South Campus. The project includes water and sewer line extensions and a roadway connector with James Parkway and Kaiser Drive. The utility extensions portion of the project could commence in May.

Roadway Grant Approved [PDF]
Approval of a $500,000 grant from the Ohio Dept. of Development for the second stage of infrastructure improvements on the COATC South Campus came April 10, 2006. The grant will satisfy a request from a prospect company considering a location at the COATC.

COATC 13th Largest in Central Ohio
The Columbus Business First list of the top 25 industrial parks in Central Ohio for 2006 puts the COATC at 13th. The Center joins three others in Licking County on the list, making it the most prolific suburban county for industrial development in Central Ohio.

Boeing Expansion on Track for June Opening
An update from Boeing reveals the most important components of the Boeing AWACS-ESM expansion, including relocation of skilled workers from Texas, are now underway with a June opening predicted.

COATC Home to Five of Top 10 DoD Contractors
The 2005 Department of Defense list of top 10 contractors includes five companies, Boeing, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and L-3 Communications, which have a presence at the COATC. The list is a source of pride for all employed on the Base Campus of COATC as it serves to validate COATC's importance to the aerospace and defense industry in Ohio.

Boeing Adds $12 Million Contract
Business First reports that the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center's largest tenant, Boeing, has added a $12 million workload to its Air Force contract. The contract means greater stability for the existing workforce.
